2008 - It's Long Island Again
(August 4, 2008) - Long Island easily defeated Central to walk away with their fourth consecutive Gold Medal. Hudson Valley also defeated Western to win the Bronze Medal. This was Long Island's 15th Gold Medal, Central's 9th Silver Medal, and Hudson Valley's 7th Bronze Medal. Full Report

Sunday - Hudson Valley Takes Bronze
(July 26, 2008) - Hudson Valley controlled the game and won the bronze medal (7-5) in men's lacrosse at the 31st annual Empire State Games. The entire team contributed to the victory but the game was won on the exemplary achievements of two particular Valley players. Luke Haggerty in the goal and Cole McCormack's face off work was the difference for Hudson Valley. Full Report

Sunday - Island Takes Gold Again
(July 26, 2008) - Long Island dominated Central, in a win that was one goal away from running time and saw the Island winning 14-3. The game really did not start running away until the third quarter. This Gold Medal game, unlike any of the other games in the tournament was played as four twelve minute quarters instead of ten minute quarters. Full Report

Saturday - Western beats ADK 11-4
(July 26, 2008) - Western played a smart game and defeated Adirondack 11-4. Western attack led their scoring with 9/11 goals. Adirondack had four different players score. Full Report

The finals are now set in the New york State Tournament and Section Five is now finished as Cananadigua lost a heart-breaker to West Genesee (11-10) and Penn Yan lost to Corning East (9-5). Full Report
 

Champions - CA, Geneva and Penn Yan
(June 6, 2008) - Although wins by both Penn Yan and Canandaigua were surprising mismatches, a four goals streak with just over a minute gave Geneva a 14-13 win in the Class B Championships at St. John Fisher College on Friday. Full Report

New York Tournament History Availablenys map
 - The first New York State Lacrosse Tournament was held in 1977 with Elmont (Section 8) the first champion. There were only six teams entered in the '77 tournament. Section Five first entered the tournament in 1978 with Rush Henrietta losing to Farmingdale 7-4 in the semi final round.
