Saturday: Semi Finals - It`s Fairport vs Pittsford and Victor vs CA
May 24, 2014 - It was a clean sweep for Section Five over Section Six today in Buffalo as Fairport beat Orchard Park 11-8, Victor defeated Hamburg 10-8 and Penn Yan beat Akron 19-4. The scene now moves to Cicero North-Syracuse High School on Wednesday for the semi final round. Fairport will play Fayetteville-Manlius (Section Three) at 3:30. Victor will play Jamesville-Dewitt at 5:30 and Penn Yan will Play Cazenovia at 8:00. The NYS brackets are available for Class A, Class B and Class C. Full Report

May 23, 2014 - Two semi final games were played today setting up the teams for the Class C finals. Penn Yan held off late advanced by Aquinas, winning 8-7. Pal-Mac held off a late attack by Gananda and made the final three goals to win 11-7. Penn Yan will play Pal-Mac at 5:15 on Tuesday at Schroeder. Brackets are available on the Tournament Page. 2014 Section Five All-Americans Announced
May 24, 2014 - May 24, 2014 - The Head Coaches of Section Five met on Sunday afternoon to listen to the presentations of twenty-five players who had been nominated for All-America team honors. The awards, sponsored by US Lacrosse, identify some of the best players from each area of the country. The Head Coaches of thirty-six teams came together to pick the players to receive the awards. Tuesday: Champions - Fairport, Victor, Penn Yan
May 27, 2014 - The three top seeds won their trips to Buffalo today as Fairport scored four goals in the last five minutes of the game to defeat Pittsford 7-6. Penn Yan was a 17-5 winner over Pal-Mac and Victor played a close game with Canandaigua, eventually winning 12-8. The three teams will play in the State Quarter finals in Buffalo (All High Stadium) on Saturday. Fairport will play Orchard Park, who won their 22nd Sectional Title tonight (10-9 over Clarence). Victor will play Hamburg after their 10-9 win over Niagara Wheatfield. Penn Yan will play Akron who defeated a strong team from Salamanca (17-15). 2014 All-Section Five List Released
May 30, 2014 - May 30, 2014 - For the fourth time, Section Five selected first and second team All-Section players. The 2014 first team lists sixteen players and includes the ten All-Americans previously announced."It`s always difficult to choose from so many talented players," said Section Five Chairman, Mike Simon. To be nominated each player was required to be selected to their first team all league (except Independent teams). Full Report

May 30, 2014 - May 30, 2014 - After two out bracket games that did not involve Section Five, the 2014 NYS tournament will be fully underway on Saturday, May 31st. There are four sites throughout the state running quarter final games, including the "Western Regionals" which feature Section Six hosting Section Five at All High Stadium in Buffalo. Full Report

Wednesday: Quarter Final Games Spencerport Beats the Seeds
May 21, 2014 - Twelve quarter final games were played today. The higher seeded teams all won except one, where Spencerport (#10) defeated Wayne (#7), 11-8. Thomas beat Hilton 12-8, Canandaigua beat Irondequoit 13-9, and Penfield beat R-H 11-5. Fairport, Pittsford, Penn Yan, Aquinas, Pal-Mac, Victor, Churchville-Chili and Gananda each won their games. May 26, 2014 - The top seeded teams will play tomorrow and it looks like anyone can win in each of the Classes. The Day of Champions, sponsored by Canandaigua National Bank and Trust, will be held at Webster Schroeder High School. This year, the Class B game will be held first, starting at 3:45. Full Report

Wednesday: Four Games to Finish, C-C over Hilton 10-9
May 14, 2014 - Four games were finished today after yesterday1s storms and the Livonia-McQuaid gave had to wait again today before they finished with the Bulldogs winning 11-7. Churchville-Chili finished as winners in their 10-9 game with Hilton. Geneva beat Waterloo and Bath beat Avon. Full Report

Thursday: Canandaigua Defeats Pittsford - Fairport over Victor
May 15, 2014 - The last regular scheduled day saw sixteen games played under the threat of more storms. There are still make up and random games to be played on Friday and Saturday and quite a few will help determine the seeding for the Tournaments next week. Fairport downed Victor 11-7 and Canandaigua beat Pittsford 7-6. Midlakes was a 13-11 winner over Marcus Whitman, Hilton took out Schroeder 14-10 and Bath beat Livonia 13-11. Thomas was an 11-6 winner over Irondequoit and the other winners today were Gananda, R-H, Gates Chili, HF-L, Wayne, Churchville-Chili, Pal-Mac and Aquinas. Batavia-Attica had a big win tonight as the defeated Mynderse 12-7 and Eastridge had a 14-11 win over Brockport. Full Report

May 16, 2014 - There were three games played on Friday. Midlakes beat Avon 11-6, Eastridge defeated Batavia-Attica 17-9 and Waterloo downed Bath 14-8. Seven Games will be finished or played on Saturday and the we start the tournaments. Full Report

Saturday: Last Day of Regular Games - Gananda over Geneva
May 17, 2014 - After calling a time-out, Gananda scored a goal with 0:18 left to take home an 11-10 victory from Geneva. Thunder beat Lightning 10-3, Pal-Mac ended their season at 15-1 after their 12-7 win over Wayne. Pittsford beat Hilton 10-5, Penfield defeated R-H 16-6 and B-H was the winner in their game with Mynderse. Full Report

Monday: Out Bracket Games
May 19, 2014 - Ten out bracket games were played today as the 2014 Section Five Tournaments began play.Only one team beat the seeds as #10 Bath beat #7 Marcus Whitman 15-6. Also in Class C, Livonia beat Midlakes, Geneva beat Mynderse and Waterloo beat Newark. In Class B McQuaid beat Brighton 10-8, Spencerport beat Batavia-Attica, Irondequoit beat Eastridge and HF-L beat Brockport. In Class A, Lightning beat Gates Chili and Schroeder beat Thunder. Friday: Avon over Batavia-Attica in Overtime, Bath over Whitman
May 9, 2014 - It took an overtime goal by Avon gave the Braves a 14-13 win at Genesee Community College. A three goal quarter by the Blue Devils forced the extra time. Bath hosted a game with Marcus Whitman that was slowed down by lightning in the area. When the weather cleared the Rams took the honors with a 13-7 Victory. Full Report

Saturday: Fairport over Churchville 8-5
May 10, 2014 - There were twelve games in a rare beautiful day. Fairport defeated C-C 8-5, Penn Yan beat Hamburg (Section 6) 12-9 and Spencerport defeated Brighton 9-7. Other winners were Gananda, HF-L, Midlakes, R-H, Hilton, Pal-Mac and Bloomfield-Honeoye. Thomas beat Schroeder in part of an all day celebration of fifty years of Webster lacrosse. Full Report

Monday: Gananda over Aquinas in last few seconds
May 12, 2014 - Gananda senior midfielder Zach Binggeli scored with 0:16 left in regulation to give the Blue Panthers an 8-7 win over Aquinas. Batavia-Attica scored three last goals to force overtime, but Wilson won 10-9. Penn Yan took Horseheads (Section 4) 11-8. Other winners Gates Chili, Medina over Newark, Schroeder and Livonia. Pittsford-Penfield Game to Raise Money for JMJ Fund
May 13, 2014 - A donation will be accepted at the Pittsford-Penfield game this afternoon to benefit the Jeff Milano-Johnson fund. The game will be held at 5:00 at the Nazareth College. "ticket takers" will be asking for two dollars to benefit the fund named for a former Pittsford Player. Full Report

Tuesday: Penfield over Pittsford plus many postponed games
May 13, 2014 - Penfield took control of the game and although Pittsford tied several times, the victors were from Penfield in a 9-8 thriller at Nazareth College. Irondequoit had an 14-4 win over visiting HF-L. Other winners with completed games were Fairport, Eastridge and Gananda. Full Report

May 6, 2014 - The last undefeated team in the Section fell today, as Fairport used steady scoring to defeat Pittsford 7-4 tonight. Newark beat Waterloo 11-9, Marcus Whitman defeated Bloomfield-Honeoye 11-10 in overtime. Spencerport beat Gates Chili 8-6, HF-L edged out Brighton 9-8, Eastridge edged out the Greece Lightning 8-7 and Penfield was a 15-6 winner over Schroeder. Penn Yan led 6-0 at the half before defeating visiting Webster Thomas 13-3. Other winners were Aquinas, Gananda, Canandaigua, McQuaid Jesuit, Midlakes, Churchville-Chili and Hilton. Full Report

May 7, 2014 - In the only game in the Section today, Avon took a 5-3 halftime to a 14-5 win over first year program Watkins Glen (Section 4). Mitchell Wolfanger led the offensive effort for the Braves. Full Report

May 8, 2014 - It took overtime, but Pittsford beat Victor in a closely contested game 12-11. Marcus Whitman beat Mynderse by one, 6-5. Canandaigua beat R-H 16-11 and Midlakes beat B-H, 10-6. Eastridge defeated Brockport 16-13 and Wayne beat Waterloo 11-8. Other winners were Penn Yan, Fairport, Churchville-Chili, Hilton, Penfield, McQuaid Jesuit, Aquinas, Penfield and Pal-Mac. Big Celebration of 50 Years of Lacrosse in Webster
May 5, 2014 - There will be a full day of lacrosse in Webster on Saturday, May 10th as the community celebrates their fiftieth anniversary of lacrosse in the town. Of course there will be games played at all levels, starting with K-2, 3-4 and 5-6 youth games for both boys and girls starting at 9:00 am. They will be followed by Modified and JV level games and will finish with a 3:00 game featuring the Thomas- Schroeder boys. Full Report

May 3, 2014 - There were some interesting scores today. The three highest scoring games were played today, as Medina beat Batavia 23-11 (34 pts), Victor beat Corning 16-15 (31 pts) and Spencerport beat Williamsville North 16-14 (30 pts). Midlakes defeated Newark 11-10 in overtime, Lightning beat Brighton 9-5 and Pittsford beat McQuaid Jesuit 8-6. Penfield took out Penn Yan 16-5 and Thomas beat Rush-Henrietta 10-6. May 5, 2014 - A rare beautiful day sway two runaway games and two very close games. Pal-Mac fought off a determined Gananda and drove home with a 11-10 victory. Wayne defeated Geneva by a goal in their 9-8 win. Livonia beat Brockport and Rush-Henrietta beat the Thunder. Full Report

Thursday: Many Overmatches - Victor Takes Penfield
May 1, 2014 - Although the majority of the fourteen games played today were overmatches, there were a couple of exciting ones. Victor used a a string of seven goals to beat Penfield 12-8. The Lightning defeated Livonia 8-3. The other winners were Canandaigua, Wayne (in a shutout), Pal-Mac, Thunder, Brockport, Geneva, Gananda, Spencerport, Irondequoit, Waterloo, Thomas and HF-L. May 6, 2014 - This week there are multiple Players of the Week award winners. Once again their talents are diverse. Canandaigua junior attackman Connor Hulme, Victor sophomore face off midfielder T.D.
