2015 Section Five All-American Announced
May 21, 2015 - The Head Coaches of Section Five met on Sunday afternoon to listen to the presentations on players who had been nominated for All-America team honors. The awards, sponsored by US Lacrosse, identify some of the best players from each area of the country. Full Report

Saturday: NYS Quarters: Clean Sweep for Section Five
May 30, 2015 - There were several delays for lightning, but in the end all three Section Five teams won their games and will now advance to the NYS semi final round, which will take place at St. John Fisher College on Wednesday. Pittsford had the closest game of day, beating Orchard Park 16-12. Penn Yan won their game with previously undefeated Akron in running time, finishing up 20-8 and Victor won their game against Hamburg 20-9. Full Report

Saturday: Victor, Thomas,Penn Yan and Aquinas Win Semis
May 23, 2015 - The Class B semi finals were close, as both Victor and Thomas struggled, at times, but won their shot to play each other in the Championships. In the Class C semis, Penn Yan and Aquinas had no trouble winning their tickets to the Championships. Full Report

Tournaments: Around the State
May 25, 2015 - Section 6 - Championships will be on Tuesday, May 26th at Grand Island. In Class A Clarence (#1) lost to Orchard Park (#2). In Class B Hamburg (#1) defeated Niagara Wheatfield (#2) and in Class C Akron (#1) beat Silver Creek (#3). The winners will play the Section Five Champions at St. John Fisher College on Saturday, May 30th. (Brackets) Full Report

Section Five Championship Day - Wednesday May 27th
May 24, 2015 - The games have now been decided and in all but one case, the seedings have predicted the finals. All that is left is to play the final games in the Section Five season. The winners will move on the the New York State Tournament, most of which will be here at the same St. John Fisher College Stadium. Full Report

Wednesday: Victor, Pittsford and Penn Yan Champs
May 27, 2015 - The end of the Section Five season crowned the three champions that will move on to the quarter finals of the New York State Tournaments. Penn Yan took a 7-0 halftime lead on the way to a 12-2 win over Aquinas as they earned their 20th Section Five title. Pittsford and Penfield played a close game for a while, but the Panthers has a strong second quarter and defeated Penfield 11-6. In the third game of the night, Victor and Thomas played a close first quarter, but then the lightning stuck and after a 40 minute weather delay, lightning struck for Victor who scored fourteen goals in the net quarter on their way to a 20-8 win over Webster Thomas. May 27, 2015 - After out bracket games that did not involve Section Five, the 2015 NYS tournament will be fully underway on Saturday, May 30th. There are four sites throughout the state running quarter final games, including the "Western Regionals" which feature Section Five hosting Section Five at St. John Fisher College. Full Report

2015 GRALL Super 17 List Released
May 31, 2015 - The All Star list is out recognizing the GRALL players for the 2015 season. Senior defenseman, Isaac Swartzman from McQuaid Jesuit was selected as GRALL "Player of the Year". The GRALL coaches gave the Sportsmanship award to Livonia. Full Report

2015 All-Section Five List Released
May 28,2015 - This is the fifth year for the Section Five All-Section Team. It is an effort by the Lacrosse Committee and the coaches of Section Five to identify some of the top players among the over 1,100 varsity players in the section this year. Nominations for the lists came from Head coaches, administrators and SportsFive personnel. This year 18 players were selected for the first team and 19 for the second team. Our seven All Americans and three Academic All Americans automatically make the first team. All players on this list must first be named to their first team All-League teams or be from Independent teams. Full Report

2015 All Tournament Teams Announced
May 28,2015 - The All Tournament Teams for 2015 were announced on Championship Wednesday. MVP for A, B and C were Jon Perotto (Pittsford), T.D. Ierlan (Victor) and Austin Fingar (Penn Yan). Players were selected on the basis of their performances in the Section Five Tournament games. Full Report

Wednesday: Upsets Today: Newark, Wayne and Irondequoit Advance
May 20,2015 - Proving that it isn`t over until all the games have been played, Newark, seeded 11th in the Class C tournament beat 2nd seeded Gananda in a one goal game and will advance to play Aquinas in the semi finals on Saturday. Irondequoit (#6) took out Churchville-Chili (#3) for their change to play Webster Thomas on Saturday. Canandaigua had a good game with McQuaid and will play Victor who beat HF-L. Penn Yan took out Livonia and Wayne (#5) beat Pal-Mac (#4) by a goal. The Class A, Class B and Class C brackets have been updated. Full Report

Friday: Penfield Takes Fairport in OT to Face Pittsford
May 22, 2015 - Pittsford used a consistent scoring patter to make their way past and fired up Rush-Henrietta to the Class A finals next Wednesday at St. John Fisher College. The second game, was close throughout and in overtime Max Spaan took the ball from Carter Jordan to give the Patriots a shot at the championship. Full Report

Monday: Newark Over Brockport 9-8, Irondequoit Over Ithaca
May 11, 2015 - Four games were played on Monday. Newark had a one goal win over Brockport at Nazareth College where the teams dedicated the game to survivors of domestic abuse. Irondequoit hosted Ithaca and came out the victor in a 14-10 contest. Waterloo defeated Bloomfield-Honeoye and Churchville-Chili beat the Lightning. Full Report

Tuesday: Bath Over Livonia, Spencerport over Thunder in OT
May 12, 2015 - There were sixteen games in the Section on Tuesday. Spencerport used overtime to defeat the Thunder 10-9. Bath was a 9-8 winner over Livonia in GRALL action. Victor remained undefeated with a win over Penfield. Thomas took out Hilton, 6-4. Other winners were Lightning, Penn Yan, Aquinas, Batavia-Attica, Churchville-Chili, Canandaigua, Irondequoit, Pittsford, Wayne, Midlakes and Gananda Full Report

Utica College Gets Tyler Fales
May 13, 2015 - Batavia-Attica senior attackman Tyler Fales recently announced in decision to continue his education and play lacrosse for the Utica College Pioneers next year. Full Report

Wednesday: Rush-Henrietta and Gananda Win
May 13, 2015 - Rush-Henrietta and McQuaid Jesuit both lost games when Avon cancelled there season and received permission to play each other instead. The Royal Comets took a 16-13 win. Gananda was a winner in their game with Mynderse. Full Report

St. John Fisher Gets Alex Goodermote
May 13, 2015 - Churchville-Chili senior captain and offensive midfielder Alex Goodermote has decided to continue his studies and to play at St. John Fisher College (Rochester). Alex plans to study Business and Finance in pursuit of his terminal degree in Law. Full Report

Ryan Fairbrother Commits to West Point
May 13, 2015 - Pittsford senior midfielder Ryan Fairbrother recently announced his commitment to attend and play lacrosse for the United States Military Academy (West Point) as a member of the class 2020. He will prepare for his appointment by attending the USMAPS (West Point Prep) program which starts this summer at West Point. Full Report

Thursday: Victor Gets Undefeated Regular Season
May 14, 2015 - It doesn`t happen very often, but the Blue Devils pulled off a 16-0 record today after defeated Hilton. Pittsford ended their season, at 15-1 after only losing in overtime to Victor. Churchville-Chili, Thomas and Gananda each finished their regular seasons at 14-2. Among the close games today were Fairport over R-H (10-8), Geneva over Wayne (13-11)Lightning over Thunder (11-10) and Waterloo over Newark (7-6). Other winners were Penfield, Mynderse, Midlakes, Gates Chili, HF-L, Canandaigua and McQuaid Jesuit. Full Report

Cole Masterson Decides on Lycoming
May 15, 2015 - Senior defenseman, Cole Masterson of Honeoye Falls Lima has announced that he will be studying and playing lacrosse at Lycoming College in Williamsport, PA after his graduation this June. Cole is one of this year`s Cougar Captains and is a two year varsity player as a defenseman. In the off season he played on the Northeast Fellowship of Christian Athletes Elite Silver team, and was named to the All Star and All-Tournament team at the Niagara Lacrosse Tournament last summer. The Lycoming Warriors are members of the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) League, playing as a member of the NCAA Division III. They are coached by Chris Scanlon, a Hobart College player and graduate from Painted Post, NY. He is expected to join attackman Connor Riorden (Fairport) in the freshman class but will miss current seniors, Steve Campaniello (Gates Chili) and Steve Troup (Pittsford). Full Report

Pittsford, Victor and Penn Yan Take Top Seeds
May 16, 2015 - The 2015 tournaments have been seeded and the schedules are set. Pittsford (Class A) with a record of 15-1 is the top of Class A. Penfield, Fairport and Rush-Henrietta took positions two, three and four. Fairport and Rush-Henrietta tied and Fairport won in the tie-breaker (with their win head-to-head on Thursday). All eight teams play in Tuesday quarterfinal contests at the home field of the higher seeded team. [ CLASS A BRACKET ] Full Report

Monday: Out Brackets for Classes B and C
May 18, 2015 - Five out bracket games in Class C and four in Class B sent the first group of team home for the season and allowed the winners to play at least one more game as they qualified for the quarter finals on Wednesday. The closest game of the day was Geneva who fought off a determined Waterloo with a 6-5 win. Irondequoit, Wayne, Canandaigua and McQuaid Jesuit recorded a combined 84 goals as they won their games. Newark and Brighton will advance and Livonia won the honor of playing Penn Yan in the next round. The "Next Up" story at the bottom of the box scores today have the lineups for the quarter finals on Wednesday. The Class B and Class C brackets have been updated. Full Report

Tuesday: Class A Quarter Finals as Seeded
May 19, 2015 - The top seeds won in the Class A quarter finals today, but it took a Rush-Henrietta a great last effort and overtime to win their game with Hilton. The other three games were mismatches with Fairport, Penfield and Pittsford winning. Penfield will play Fairport on Friday (7:00) and Pittsford will play Rush-Henrietta (5:00) at Webster Thomas High School. The Class A, Class B and Class C brackets have been updated. Full Report

Tuesday: Closer Games Today. Pittsford and Victor Undefeated
May 5, 2015 - Pittsford had a close game with Penfield and yet preserved their perfect season with a 10-7 win over the visiting Patriots. Victor had no trouble with irondequoit so both teams will have perfect seasons until Thursday when they meet at Pittsford. Newark and Pal-Mac honored teammates who have been fighting medical issues, and the Reds won the game for the first time since 2008. Hilton played a very close game with Brighton and won 8-7. Aquinas had a strong finish as they defeated Gananda 5-4. Marcus Whitman won their first game of the season with a 7-6 victory over Mynderse. Thomas used the second half to beat Canandaigua 13-10. Other winners were Spencerport, Bath, Gates, Fairport, Wayne and Livonia. Full Report

Wednesday: Gananda and Geneva Win Tonight
May 6, 2015 - Gananda came out with fourteen unanswered goals in the first half to defeat Marcus Whitman in Finger Lakes action. In another Finger Lakes games, Geneva was a 16-7 winner over Newark. Full Report

Thursday: One Undefeated... It's a Victory for Victor
May 7, 2015 - The game that everyone has been talking about saw two undefeated teams putting it on the line. The fans were not disappointed in the game that saw a tying goal by Pittsford (14-1) with four seconds left and then an overtime win by Victor (14-0). There were other exciting games as Thomas held off advances by Penfield for an 8-7 win and Brockport was a 12-11 winner over the Thunder. Hilton beat Schroeder 9-8 and Irondequoit defeated Rush-Henrietta (9-7. Other winners were Churchville-Chili, Pal-Mac, Aquinas, Batavia-Attica, Penn Yan (over Fairport 9-6), Spencerport, Midlakes, Brighton and McQuaid Jesuit. Full Report

Avon Cancels The Rest of It's Season
May 8, 2015 - With regret, Avon Athletic Director Andy Englert announced that the Avon Braves have cancelled the rest of their season, due to lack of available players. The team, which started with fifteen players, had a number of injuries and other issues that took the number of available players to less than ten. Full Report

Friday: Bath Wins in Overtime
May 8, 2015 - Connor Cupp scored the winning goal for Bath on an assist from Patrick Brewer with 0:20 remaining in the first overtime period to give the Rams a 7-5 record. Gananda also won their game today with Midlakes. Full Report

Saturday: Fairport Takes Canandaigua for Blake Strong
May 9, 2015 - A long, hot day at Fairport saw multiple lacrosse games played between the Red Raiders and Canandaigua in a day to raise money and awareness for Childhood Cancer and in the memory of Blake Cognata. fairport won the game, but CURE was the winner. Other winners in the 90 degree heat were Gates Chili, Brockport, Churchville-Chili, Pal-Mac, Geneva, Bloomfield-Honeoye, Hilton, Penfield, McQuaid Jesuit, Spencerport and Aquinas. Full Report

May 10, 2015 - Inside Lacrosse, earlier this week announced that they named junior attackman, Ryan Maloney, as their Player of the Week. Saturday: Brighton Takes Fairport in OT
May 2, 2015 - With four seconds left in regulation, Brighton attackman Brady McDermott scored to force overtime, where Max Coke received a pass from Will Bender to give Brighton a 10-9 win at home. Irondequoit pushed off attempts by The Saints in their 11-8 win at Churchville-Chili. Wayne defeated Midlakes 10-7 and Waterloo had a big quarter and beat Mynderse 10-7. Gananda won a high scoring game against Pal-Mac (19-15) and HF-L won a 14-10 win over Gates Chili. Other winners on Saturday were Penn Yan, R-H, Geneva, Livonia, Thomas and Victor. Full Report

May 4, 2015 - As we enter the last two weeks of the regular season, there were four games played today. HF-L went up by a goal in the first quarter and then played evenly with the Greece Lightning until the last quarter where they added another.
